Recently in the Seventies Cheese series, I featured Peter Frampton playing Show Me the Way.
Thanks to Russell my north eastern cultural correspondent I can now bring you this most remarkable version of the song by “manualist” Jerry Philips :
And Stairway to Heaven!
As Russell points out, this is a man with an array of audio equipment to enhance the (frankly) farty noises he makes with his hands. Isn’t the internet wonderful?

The former Herd and Humble Pie guitarist re-emerged in 1975 with a contraption attached to the microphone which he ‘chewed’ to get a wah-wah effect out of his guitar.
The band looked much like the New Seekers only with more hair. Nearly every pub band in Christendom played this number (usually using a wah-wah pedal), even though it would be some time before I could find that out officially (Although I played my first pub gig at 16!)
