I watched some of Question Time last night on the BBC.
Now to be fair I didn’t see all of it but what I did see involved Paddy Ashdown and Douglas Alexander verbally hectoring Nicola Sturgeon.
Whatever anyone thinks of Ms Sturgeon, she is the Deputy First Minister of Scotland. She represents a party with a solid and convincing mandate. Paddy Ashdown represents a party who were decimated at the polls in the Scottish election last year and Dougie following on from his
successful running of Gordon Brown’s UK campaign in 2010, now wants to apply his magic to the No campaign apparently.
As Alexander and Ashdown chuntered on like Statler and Waldorf throughout every answer La Sturgeon attempted to deliver to a question, it struck me that they had achieved between them a quite staggering achievement. Despite the panel including Kelvin McKenzie, it appeared that he was only number three, maybe four, in the evening’s league table of odious arseholes.
Dimbledore carried on blithely, allowing the constant heckling from the two of them.
Alexander pulled off another quite extraordinary feat last night.
He went down in my estimation.
The panel also included Justine Greening who like Nicola Sturgeon, was far too polite to interrupt her fellow panellists.
