Richard the Turd?

Today’s news, that the bones discovered in a Leicester car park last year were indeed those of King Richard III of England, have caused much interest and an examination of his controversial life and reign (of two years).

Let’s face it, to still be causing a stushie 528 years after one’s death is quite a feat!

I must admit to googling a play on words on Shakespeare’s famous quote i.e. “Now is the winter of our discount tents” and was not at all surprised to find this along with many others.

Whilst listening to the news yesterday I recalled that the medieval monarch appeared in a book I have featured recently, namely Willie Donaldson’s Brewer’s Rogues Villains and Eccentrics. Here’s what Donaldson says about Dickie Three:

  1. News just in: The claim to the bones by the Roman Catholic Church has been dismissed on the grounds that the Church has six of his heads already.
