"Great read every day. Makes me smile as Rab muses about music and his irreverent views on the EU. Tune in, you won't be disappointed."

"Excellent 'Blog' which can be controversial at times, while maintaining it's humour. Keep it up Big Rab!"

"Updated every day with doses of good humour, political satire, a running commentary on the progress of author's home football team and his life."

"Pure brilliant, so it is - I never miss it, though God knows, I've tried."

"An inspiration to start my own blog"

"For dipping into it's better than pakora sauce"

"Anyone who doesn't like the EU and has a soft spot for Albion Rovers can't be all bad"

    "Facile and False"

    "Populist,puerile and prosaic"

"Utter pish! Keep it up, I love it!"

"People may also find the Ben Lomond Free Press blog illuminating, interesting and/or amusing. It’s not mentalist as such but familiar themes emerge. I particularly like accounts of encounters with strange elementals (of course! ELEmentals!) from elfin safety. And the fact that the blog is run by someone who plays in a blues band called Harmonica Lewinsky."

A Brush With Destiny

Via C & A

Wee Shuggie – the Dumbarton-based painter and decorator – was apt to
make savings. Sadly this included doing naughty things like thinning
down the paint to make it go further.

The day came when Shuggie won the contract to paint the Baptist
Church. Off he goes to buy the materials including paint thinner.

Having started work Shuggie was thrown from his ladder by an almighty
thunder-clap and flash of lightning. Realising that this was a sign fro
the Almighty he begged “I’m sorry Lord. Can you forgive me?”

Back came the reply:

Repaint, repaint, and thin no more.

Russell sends me this amazing goal celebration:

Oxymorons

I had it suggested to me today by a smug git friend, that the unassailable oxymoron, ‘French Resistance’ had been supplanted by ‘Scottish Amicable’

So dear reader, it set me thinking about oxymora and I have come up with the following.

How about:

United Kingdom

Equal opportunity

Seriously funny

Sensitive guy

Poor little rich girl

Jonathan Ross – entertainer

Funny man Ricky Gervais

Celtic European campaign (see also: Rangers)

Scotland’s qualifying campaign

Conservative-Liberal

I’m sure you can think of better than that – The blog’s been a bit short on comments recently – Let’s be having you!

Hard to Thrill

This is from the 2006 album The Road to Escondido by Eric Clapton and JJ Cale.

Premium, gold plated blues. It came on the MP3 this morning when it was set to shuffle.

I had to share it with you.
