Dumbarton FC captain Gordon Lennon died yesterday as the result of a tragic accident.
He was 26.
I have only the barest of details at this stage.
Gordon had just graduated at university, captained his club to a championship win and was all set to marry the mother of his five- month old baby.
There can hardly be more tragic and cruel circumstances for a young man’s life to be taken away.
I remember seeing Gordon at the promotion party talking fluently in sign language to his dad who is deaf.
I am so sad about this.
It’s hard not to be angry about the unfairness of it.
My thoughts are with Gordon’s partner Kelly and their baby son Kai and with the rest of his family who meant so much to him.

A bloody tragedy. How unfair.
Was sorry to hear about this.
This is terribly tragic news for all connected with Dumbarton FC and the wider Scottish football community.
Much more than that however it is a devastatingly cruel blow for Gordon’s partner, their baby son and his family, and it is they who I’m sure are in everyone’s thoughts right now.
A desperately sad start to the week.
Absolutely devasted. My hero, a family man and true representative of our football club.
My thoughst are with his family at this time, hope someone can pass on our condolances to them all.

So tragic.
My thoughts are with all those close to Gordon.
He was a great ambassador for the club, he will be sadly missed.

My good friend Patrick Rolink who knew Guido from his spell at Albion Rovers sends this message:
“I am shattered. I and everyone at Albion Rovers were fond and proud of the boy. He was a fine young man and a credit to his parents.
This is life as cruel as it can be”
Truly awful and terribly, terribly sad. Thanks for your apposite comments, Rab.
Still can’t grasp the news, and being so far away from family and friends who are life long fans, and friends of Gordon Lennon I wish all the support to his partner and his wee boy Kai, my condolences go with a heavy heart to a real gentleman of sport. Please pass on my regards at this terrible time.
