What Happens if all this Fails?

It looks like HBOS and the Royal Bank of Scotland will be nationalised today. What happens though if all these measures fail and the rest of the world does an Iceland?

Coalition government? breakdown of law and order? martial law? looting and rioting? revolution?

How will it affect hardworkingfamilies?

Worst of all as I’m sure the Daily Mail will point out, what’s going to happen to house prices?

  2. You’re in a happy mood this morning! Does this mean I’m now a Civil Servant pensioner. Result!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Not for the first time, yesterday’s articles in the Sunday Herald by Ian’s Bell and McWhirter hit the nail on the head – try and get a copy.

But in answer to your question Ben-Lo, economic chaos and instability is usually the precursor to political extremism in some shape or form. Be prepared for absolutely anything.

  4. I can tell the Daily Hate Mail what is happening to house prices – having just had mine valued (at £40K less than it was a year ago), I can tell them they’re f*cked!

Wouldn’t rule out the coalition government though (and preparing to admit defeat on our little opinion poll wager!!) ;-)

  5. On a more serious note, some of the political consequences of all this don’t really bear thinking about.. suffice to say I suspect that the fascists of the BNP are doubtless rubbing their hands together in glee..
