Two In a Row!

I didn’t make the game today due to the preamble to last night’s gig. It seems after back to back victories we are now third worst team in Scotland! We have now caught up with Shire and have Albion Rovers firmly in our sights. Watch this space…..

From the Dumbarton FC website:

A long range wind-assisted shot by last week’s two goal hero, midfielder Mark Canning, flew into the net to give Dumbarton a 1-0 victory over Albion Rovers this afternoon.

As newly-wed Sonsview programme editor Graeme Robertson and his best man, club historian Jim McAllister, watched from the stand, Sons produced a gutsy performance to beat a home side which included ex-Sons Danny Ferry, Barry Donald and John Gemmell, with former Sons manager Paul Martin the no.2 to manager John ‘Cowboy’ McCormick.

Facing the wind and heavy rain in the first half, Sons fought bravely in defence and restricted Gemmell and the other attackers to very few opportunities.

After the break, with the wind at their backs, they posed much more of an attacking threat but failed to create many chances, while at the other end keeper David Crawford saved a penalty.

Eventually a long range effort by Mark Canning beat a stranded keeper to clinch a win which moved them up to eighth in the table.
