Anyone looking in from West Dunbartonshire will need no introduction to the weird and wonderful world of council politics in that part of the world. I have documented various of their bizarre policies and decisions, for example Cick Here to see a posting I made last year on the vox blog. This week because of the decision by Renfrewshire Council to start the process of allowing cars back in to Paisley after 11 years of the town going down the tubes, I have featured in the local press here pointing out that our own clowncil held Paisley’s failed traffic management system up as best practice. I asked the perfectly reasonable question of when WDC would be reviewing their policy now that Renfrewshire Council had admitted it was all a pile of kak. If Dumbarton Town Centre was a human being WDC would be up on twin charges of cruelty and attempted murder. This Article
from Andrew Weston in the Dumbarton Reporter quotes from Yours Truly and features my Youtube Ghost Town video. Marc McLean in The Lennox Herald also did a very good piece on the issue Click Here
The interesting bit in all this though is that the spokesman from the clowncil said that Dumbarton was “very different” from Paisley, that each individual town had individual issues, that WDC had never compared Dumbarton and Paisley or held up Paisley as best practice and that no council official had ever used that term (best practice) for Paisley.
Oh dear! I have documentary and photographic proof that blows every single point that he/she has made right out of the Leven. I have of course in the interests of accuracy and fair play passed this proof (copies of WDC documents) to the two papers.
Of course it is not difficult to show WDC as being foolish or untruthful. The hard bit is to actually get them to change their policies. The fight continues.

Aa well as an SSP activist, I am secretary of the local community council and I can tell you that Renfrewshire CLOWNcil’s traffic management system was so bad that they had to turn to Tesco and Morruisons to get a new one. Lo and behold we now have two new Morrisons , at least one Tesco and possibly two more…..brilliant!!
